Muddy Boots’ activities in December, of course, focussed on the coming of Winter and Christmas! So many lovely festive crafts were made, we were granted permission to use a fire-pit, opening up lots of new opportunities for cooking and learning
November was all about the leaves! Throwing leaves, gathering them up, making tracks through them, making homes in them- the fun was endless! We also celebrated Diwali and Bonfire night. The woods were beautifully yellow, orange and gold.
October saw the woods change colour from summer green to autumn red, yellow and gold. The final session of the allotment playgroup was mid month. It felt too early to end this year as the weather was still so beautiful!
September sure was an exciting month for Muddy Boots! We held 3 Forest School sessions, 6 allotment playgroup sessions and are busy planning to expand to include woodland parties! Click ‘Forest birthday parties’ in the bar above for the details.
After a fabulous Summer holiday, it was lovely to be back in the woods with a group yesterday. Our Saturday Forest school session focussed on making artworks using what we could find around us. Cue the blackberry paint, clay artworks
Our focus this week at the Allotment playgroup was messy-play. Lots of activities were laid out and the children could choose to take part in what they wanted. It was lovely to have some bigger siblings along to this session
This week we had a magical time in the woods and at the allotment pretending to be fairies, kings and queens. We played with clay, made flower crowns, crafted our own willow wands and made teeny tiny woodland fairies.
This week at Muddy Boots Forest School we made tree spirits called ‘Bogarts’ out of clay, leaves and flowers. We had a go at the Japanese art of leaf-bashing called ‘Hapa Zoma’ and did some painting onto canvas.
