My Muddy Boots

Wild learning and natural play

Locations

My Muddy Boots works with the people of the East Midlands, mainly people living within the Leicestershire boundary.

Forest pre-school, family forest adventures and sisterhood retreat days run at Glen Parva Spinney and nature reserve in Glen Parva. The Spinney is a broadleaved woodland with a diversity of types of tree and many natural environments to explore including woods, meadows, streams and canals. We explore the woods and spend most of our time at ‘base camp’ where we set up tarp shelters, a fire area, a mud kitchen, craft activities and many varied and inviting child-led play ideas.

Follow the postcode LE2 9JD to see our general location. We meet under a large Oak tree outside Glen Parva memorial hall, where there is a library, cafe and toilet facilities. There is plenty of free parking at the memorial hall/ library on Dorothy Avenue. Postcode LE29JD or you can park on the surrounding roads.

Allotment playgroup takes place at Aylestone Lane Community allotments in Wigston. The allotments are situated behind houses on Aylestone Lane (B5418) (also called Stonesby Avenue) between Exeter Road and Brailsford Road. There is a small signpost marked ‘Allotments’ on Aylestone Lane that points you up a track into the allotment site.

A sunny corner of the Community allotment has been specially designed for this group using Permaculture Principles. There is a willow den, sand-pit, mud kitchen, digging area and child-sized tools provided.

Parking inside the allotments is very limited, so please park on the surrounding roads. Please leave the spaces next to the community allotment free for people with mobility issues to use. Do consider lift sharing to the allotment please and help reduce your emissions.

Earth Arts is an indoor based branch of the My Muddy boots family tree! We are really pleased to be working in collaboration with Soft touch Arts and working out of their wonderful venue on New Walk in Leicester city centre. The Soft Touch building is 50 New Walk, Leicester LE1 6TF. There is plenty of on-street and council carparks nearby and it is easily accessible by public transport.
